Yew Tree Cottage, Torton

RCA Regeneration prepared and submitted a planning application for the extension to a listed building which was also located within the Green Belt. RCA worked alongside historic building specialist CgMs to produce a Planning and Heritage Statement which supported the application and argued the merits of the proposals. This helped to minimise objections to the application from the Council Conservation team. Moreover, the design of the extension produced by architect Vanessa Greenhouse RIBA was suitably sympathetic.

Our statement directly addressed matters such as the impact on the historic building as well as the openness of the green belt and explored planning policy and the constraints of the site, weighing the benefits of the development against any adverse impacts. RCA worked alongside several sub-consultants and the applicants to ensure that the application process was quick and efficient. Due to the extensive preparation work before submission, permission was granted for the extension in March 2014.
